Fall Equinox 2008

A NOTE FROM HERON

As the wheel turns again to the longer nights and shorter days we will celebrate the bounty of the harvest.  While the energy continues to be intense and pushes us to grow, we are bathed in the beauty of a green summer with sun and rain and wind.  The economy has also pushed us to cut back and some of the programs at Shequaga were canceled due to low enrollment.  We will be looking for some good fundraisers to help us make it through the winter.  We are very grateful for the new Longhouse bunkhouse that gives us 16 indoor sleeping spaces and all who contributed to making that possible.  Join us for the celebration of this beautiful Earth as she moves and changes through the seasons.

The deadline for the next newsletter is November 15 and it will be mailed before the Winter Solstice.

Celebration of the Seasons

We come together as a community of Earth’s children on the solstices, equinoxes, and cross-quarter days to acknowledge Earth’s cycles as well as our own.  These celebrations are open to women, men, and also to children who are old enough to enjoy ceremony.  Donations of $1-$5.

Fall Equinox  Monday, September 22, 7-9 PM Celebrate the Fall Equinox, a day of balance between light and dark, with the darkness gathering strength.  Bring a snack to share.

Hallowmas  Friday, October 31, 7-9 PM  Celebrate the Feast of the Dead, when the veil between the  worlds is thin.  Walk between the worlds with us to heal the planet and ourselves.  Bring a snack to share and pictures for the altar of those who have recently passed.

Winter Solstice, Sunday, December 21, 4-7 PM  On the longest night we gather to tell stories, call back the sun, and celebrate the beginning of a new cycle.  Bring a dish to pass.
